Crests of the English Nobility
Sir William Segar and Joseph Edmondson.
from The Complete Book of Heraldry.
London. 1780. (Folio, 2 volumes.)
An iconography of the crests of the most noted names in English history. This work contains the largest and most striking of the heraldric plates of the many books of English heraldry. Originally issued in black and white copperplate engravings, these examples have modern coloring and reflect accurate representation in color of the coat of arms. This work has become increasingly scarce owing to the desire of some many English families (and their genealogical descendants) to own their respective coat-of-arms.
