Reichenbachia: Orchids Illustrated and Described, London: H. Sotheran & Co., 1888-1894.  4 folio volumes with 192 chromolithographic plates.  This is an authoritative work illustrated with life-size plates, one of the greatest of all works on orchids.  Born in Bremen in 1847, Sander came to Britain in 1865 and worked in nurseries in Forest Hill.  His Reichenbachia was named in honour of Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach (1824-1889), ornithologist, botanist, and celebrated orchidologist.The plates from the Imperial edition are mounted on heavy card 19¾ x 27.Print: 21" x 15½"
